Soon, Rico’s hollow log was filled with treasures: a lost piece of glass, a shiny beetle’s shell, and a little silver bell. But he never once said, “Thank you.”

One day, Rico couldn’t find his favorite toy: a little red car, the shiniest thing of all. He looked everywhere!

Rico’s eyes grew wide. He hadn’t thought about that. He felt a little bit ashamed. He gathered all the treasures he had taken.

Barnaby and Squeaky were so happy, they helped Rico look for his car. They found it under a big fern leaf! “Thank you!” Rico shouted, his heart full of joy. From that day on, Rico learned that saying “thank you” was the shiniest treasure of all.
